Every week for a year, a different artist with a connection to Asia will tackle an urgent issue in their community with an action, which is then showcased on Instagram @52ARTISTS52ACTIONS.
What is an ‘action’? That’s up to the artist, who has complete creative freedom to engage with an issue or an idea as they see it, be it the refugee crisis, climate change, human rights and beyond. The weekly ‘actions’ form a continuously unfolding creative response to world events, with each made available online for a global audience to experience.
Each ‘action’ can be a performance. It can be an artwork. It can be a walking tour of a rapidly changing neighbourhood, a shared meal, a poster campaign, a podcast, even a projection onto clouds. Each artist is limited only by their imagination. As an evolving project, actions can even build or reflect on ones that have gone before.
And crucially, each artist will be challenged to think of innovative ways to engage with the worldwide audience and the individual viewer. Whatever the action is, you will be part of it by following @52ARTISTS52ACTIONS on Instagram.
