Raw, offbeat and vulnerable, acclaimed company acrobat’s new show follows the metamorphosis of two kooky clowns. After launching into an absurd indulgence of low-brow humour, acrobat shed props and pretence as the clown personas erode. The antithesis of glitzy mega-circus, this is an uncompromising exploration of ageing, relationships and identity.
Known for their unflinching, anti-aesthetic approach to performance, company founders Jo-Ann Lancaster and Simon Yates begin with cartoon buffoonery and zany bike stunts before descending into powerful, mud-coated, primal and poetic anarchy featuring extraordinary physicality and a strict adherence to pared-down theatre.
It’s Not For Everyone continues the company’s focus on meaningful and sometimes unsettling work that digs into who we are.
