The Uluru Statement from the Heart was a roadmap drafted by Indigenous Australians setting an ambitious agenda for our country. The Statement raises the on-going issues of recognition, treaty and constitutional reform.
But navigating this ambitious path will be a challenge – how do we progress this agenda when the conversation is about much more than ‘recognition’? And where does this leave the broader agenda and future of Australia?
The panel, led by leading Aboriginal thinkers, will discuss what the aspiration to Aboriginal sovereignty means in 2018, whether a treaty will unite or divide Australia and what it all means for the Australian Constitution and the future of our country. (This forum will also be recorded and broadcast on ABC Radio on 26 January.)
