Exploring New Circus Apparatus is an imaginative and immersive workshop for professional circus artists and experienced creators.
The focus is on the design process of props and equipment as a creative act, looking at ideas, transformations, materials and techniques, with an introduction and consideration of technical and safety issues.
Over two days you will discover how the new Model Citizens apparatus have been developed, and physically explore each unique apparatus designed and created for the show.
This program will be collaboratively run by a Circus Oz team led by Rob Tannion (Artistic Director) and Michael Baxter (Production Designer), supported by the rigger and two performing artists.
The physical skill sets will include:
Aerials, rope and pole on the big safety pin, bridge and giant undies
Acro and tumbling on the big clothes peg and giant scissors
Balance, handstands, acrobatics on the house of giant credit cards and the big cotton spools.
Who is this for?
Professional level circus artists, creative designers and makers.
Participants may have a background outside of the circus industry but ideally you will have some experience, and a strong interest in, circus arts.
This is an inclusive and integrated workshop that welcomes all abilities.
