Jurassic Plastic is art for both kids and grown-ups – a fun exercise in creativity and nostalgia, while contemplating mass consumerism. Japanese artist Hiroshi Fuji recycles and reinvents unwanted plastic toys into colourful dinosaur sculptures and landscapes.

Up Late is an adults-only event program that stimulates the mind and gets your creative juices flowing. Jurassic Plastic will be transformed to cater for the big kids: the program includes floor talks with special guests and of course, a bar!

Thursday 11 January: Jess Miller
Deputy Lord Mayor of City of Sydney, Councillor Jess Miller is known for her creative and inclusive approaches to sustainability, strategy and innovation. Join her as she discusses how communities can work together and ignite change.

Friday 12 January: Wesley Enoch in conversation with Hiroshi Fuji
Jurassic Plastic artist Hiroshi Fuji is a Japanese artist and activist who transforms the discarded and broken into art. Hear Sydney Festival Director Wesley Enoch speak with Fuji about re-use, Papua New Guinean stray dogs, and the stories behind his iconic Toysaurus.

Thursday 18 January: Craig Reucassel
TV comedian Craig Reucassel's War on Waste (ABC TV) continues to blow Australia away with the reality of our disposable lives and relationship with waste. Join Craig for an Up Late talk where he muses on mass consumption, rubbish and sustainable choices.

Friday 19 January: Stephen Mushin
Ecological designer, sustainability planner, industrial designer, hack engineer and artist, Stephen Mushin creates fantastical machines for the post-climate-change-apocalypse world. Radical ideas and wacky speculations will be discussed to see how we might steer the future in a more sustainable direction.
